Molly Ivins made a name for herself as a journalist in the 70s covering Texas politics, primarily because she could drink politicians under the table until they spilled the juiciest stories. She wrote for countless publications including The New York Times, was nominated for the Pulitzer (twice), and published several books.

But I loved Molly most of all because she made politics fun. And she never gave up on fighting for the better future that she knew was possible.

Sadly, we lost Molly at the age of 62 to breast cancer. In the midst of everything that’s happened since January 20, 2025, I’ve often found myself wondering what Molly would say if she were still here. How she’d rally us, how she’d inspire us, how she’d dispel our fear by making us laugh.

And so inspired by the fighting spirit of Molly Ivins, we call ourselves Molly’s Army.

Side note: Whether you’re new to Molly or you always enjoy a dose of her biting humor anytime it crosses your path, here are a few quotes that might resonate.

Regular, everyday folks. As Molly Ivins said:

“You got to dance with them what brung you.”

For that reason, we don’t accept funding from corporations, political parties, or their leaders. And because they aren’t bringing us to the party, we aren’t beholden to them.

This is all grassroots, y’all.

Running a website brings with it monthly expenses, including web hosting, an email list service, the software that makes the site actually work, and so on.

Your donation covers those expenses, and your donation also supports me, Kelly, so I can keep serving this community. That includes writing our weekly emails, developing flyers and other resources, and hosting virtual workshops—all so that we can help more people take action and also grow our collective power.

I love honoring Molly and serving our democracy through this work. With that said, I’m also self-employed, so when I create resources for Molly’s Army, it takes time away from my other work. When you support Molly’s Army, I don’t have to burn the candle at both ends.

Find any email from me in your inbox and scroll to the end to click the Update your profile link. (Search your inbox for mollysarmy.com if you need help finding an email from me.)
Follow the instructions to log into your profile, then find the Paid subscriptions section and click View billing in Stripe. (Stripe is the payment processor.)
On the subscription detail page that appears, you can cancel your subscription or update your payment information.
